Emergency plans for a flu pandemic that could kill about 700,000 people will be set out today. Alan Johnson, the Health Secretary, will unveil the National Pandemic Flu Framework, which sets out how emergency workers would cope with the huge death toll. Mass graves, inflatable mortuaries, 24-hour cremations and "express" funerals could all be used, government papers show.
