Only 2 per cent of hospitals are screening all patients for the superbug MRSA when they are admitted, despite government pledges that all would do it. The information, gathered by the Conservative Party through freedom of information (FoI) requests to hospital trusts, shows that the two basic principles that have been successful abroad in controlling MRSA are being ignored in Britain.
