£10m war on binge drinking - Liverpool Echo 7th October 2007

AN EXTRA £10m will be spent on ending Liverpool’s binge drinking, health officials announced today. Schemes include teaching children as young as six about the dangers of alcohol. The extra money, which will be spent over the next three years, comes after Liverpool was branded Britain’s binge-drink capital. Liverpool Primary Care trust’s plans include: Patrols, where a police officer and a paramedic will target alcohol hotspots to treat patients and prevent trouble. More drink treatment services, after health managers admitted one in 10 people were not getting the help they needed.
