An ambitious project by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) to beat drug counterfeiters by putting a microchip in every packet of pills has been fraught with problems and may be scrapped, The Times has learnt. The pharmaceutical giant said three years ago that it was investigating the use of radio frequency identification (RFID) tags for products deemed to be susceptible to counterfeiting.
